Jubail in One Day: The Highlights

With one day in Jubail, see the Crease Archaeological Tower in the old town in the morning, rest through the midday heat, and spend the late afternoon and evening at the Al Fanateer seafront in Jubail Industrial City: a boat trip from the marina, then sunset and dinner on the corniche. The tower and the marina are about 20 km apart by road.

This plan keeps to the essentials. If you have more time, the 3-day Jubail itinerary adds the parks and a trip to Ithra, and the 5-day Jubail itinerary adds day trips to Al Khobar and Dammam. Drive times come from OSRM routing on OpenStreetMap data (October 2026) and assume free-flowing traffic.

Morning: why start in the old town?

Because the old town is where Jubail began, and mornings are cooler. Head to Jubail Balad for the Crease Archaeological Tower, also known as Al-Tawiya Tower. Visit Saudi describes a Najdi-style watchtower of mud and stone, about 12 metres high, built to guard the Crease well, and says you need no ticket to visit.

Allow an hour for the tower and a slow drive through the older streets around it. The full story is on our Crease Tower page.

Midday: what should you do in the heat?

Rest. Jubail's coast gets very hot in the middle of the day for much of the year, so go back to your hotel or find a cool indoor spot for lunch. The Jubail facts page explains the climate.

Afternoon: what is there to do at Al Fanateer?

Drive north to the Al Fanateer Sea Front, about 20 km and 18 minutes from the tower to the marina, in Jubail Industrial City. Saudipedia describes a 19.3-hectare beach park with about one kilometre of sandy shore, shaded pergolas, play areas and a marina, run under the Royal Commission for Jubail.

Book a boat trip at the marina. Visit Saudi lists boat trips, fishing and diving, and says you need no ticket to enter the marina area. Trips are paid separately and prices change, so confirm the rate before you board.

Evening: where should you end the day?

On the Al Fanateer Corniche. Aramco Life describes it as the livelier stretch of Jubail's seafront, with restaurants and shops opposite the downtown area. Walk the promenade as the heat drops, watch the sunset over the water and stay for dinner.

Before you go, read the Jubail travel tips on dress, Ramadan hours and current safety advice.
